Simple Food Matters

Simple Food Matters is a body of 30 artworks, uniquely created for OzHarvest. All paintings in the show celebrate the fruits, vegetables and other basic foods that the organisation rescue and use to create beautiful meals at Refettorio. In each painting the chosen fruit or vegetable takes centre stage and is transformed from being a humble item into a portrait. In past still life exhibitions I have revelled in the colours and textures of the subject matter. But in ‘Simple Food Matters’, the objects have taken on a deeper meaning. They are the bridge to the people who eat at Refettorio.

The show will open on Friday 31 October evening at Refettorio. Owing to limited space, attendance will be by invitation only. For full details of the event visit Humanitix
